Your First Steps Toward Real Change in Your Relationship

You've done the hard part. You decided to look into this.

This page is your orientation. Before you book, before you show up, before anything begins - here is everything you need to know about how working with Rick actually works.

Read through what applies to you and arrive prepared.

Before You Book

Real questions. Real answers. No pressure!

Just the clarity you need to decide what’s right for your relationship.

πŸ‘‰ I’m seriously considering this… I need details.

Your First Step - The Introductory Session

Everything starts here.

The intro session is free, it is 30 minutes, and it is not a sales call. It is a real conversation where we figure out together whether this is the right fit for your situation.

You do not need to have your story sorted. You do not need to agree on anything before you come. You just need to show up.

Not Sure If You’re Ready to Begin?

Couples counselling works best when the foundation is ready for it.

If there are safety concerns, active addiction, ongoing deception, or major instability, the right first step may be to slow things down and begin in a way that actually supports both of you.

This does not mean the door is closed.

It means the starting point matters.

How We Meet - Virtual or In-Person

Once you decide to begin, you choose how we work together.

Virtual Sessions

Secure Zoom sessions available six days a week - days, evenings, and Saturdays.

If you live anywhere in Alberta, this is how most couples work with Rick.

No travel, no waiting room. Just focused work from wherever you are.

In-Person Sessions

Prefer to sit across from someone?

In-person sessions are available at the Red Deer office on Mondays and Thursdays, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, by appointment only.

If you live outside Red Deer, you are welcome to make the drive. Many couples find the trip worthwhile.

What You Will Learn - RLT Skills

RLT is not just conversation.

You will leave each session with real tools - specific skills for slowing conflict down, repairing after a fight, and rebuilding trust in practical, daily ways.

This section explains what those skills are and why they work.

What to Expect and How This Works

Is this different from traditional couples therapy?

Yes.

This approach is active and direct. You work on the pattern in real time instead of talking in circles.

How much does couples counselling cost?

Sessions are $200 per hour, typically booked as two-hour sessions.

Is this worth it if we have tried therapy before?

Many couples come in after trying something that did not work.

The difference here is the focus on real-time change and practical tools.
